Black tea accounts
for 85% of all tea consumed by the Western world. All true teas come from the
same plant, Camellia Sinensis. The most oxidized of all the true teas, after
harvesting, black tea is first withered, then undergoes one of two
manufacturing processes - orthodox or CTC (Cut-Torn-Curled), is allowed to
oxidize, and then is carefully dried and graded. Orange Pekoe (OP) or whole
leaf teas are the finest grade and give the best tasting cup. As the leaf is
broken down into smaller pieces, the grade declines down to fannings and dust,
which are used in most commercial teabags. While giving a quick steep, the
flavor is sub-standard. Whether you desire a wonderful Yunnan, a fine
Darjeeling, a smooth Nilgiri, or a hearty Assam; you’ll find it here. Try one of our delicious loose leaf black teas today!
